Health Advice by Mansfield District Primary Care Trust
Aiming to improve the health of the local population, Mansfield District Primary Care Trust, now known as Nottinghamshire County Teaching Primary Care Trust comes up with health advice for the local public every now and then. It organizes various health campaigns just to ensure that the local public in Nottinghamshire is paying attention for its health care.
One of the major health advices given by this PCT was to cut the medicine waste in the Mansfield area. People in Mansfield spend a huge amount of money on wasted medicines. Medicines are bought by the patients and kept unused for many days and finally returned to the pharmacist unopened. This way, that medicine is neither used nor given to the developing countries.
Nottinghamshire PCT then suggested simple steps to cut down this waste. Some of the steps are like having your medicines regularly reviewed by your doctor or returning all unused medicines to your local pharmacy. Letting your doctor know that you have stopped taking a particular medicine and checking the items that you need while buying a repeat prescription.
Another useful health advice given by Mansfield District PCT or Nottinghamshire PCT was on healthy eating habits. According to a survey, 58% of the people in the UK are overweight and out of them 20% are considered obese and are likely to develop (CHD) Coronary Heart Disease than the rest of us. To tackle this problem of obesity, this PCT gave some simple healthy tips.
Some of the healthy eating tips were like making sure that you eat foods from the five groups, namely, fruits and vegetables; milk and dairy products; meat, fish and alternatives; bread, potatoes and other cereals and foods containing fat and foods containing sugar. Apart from this, indulging in a little more physical activity is all that this PCT urged people to do for a healthy life. |
